Rosebuds Parent-Tot Teacher

Tara Jansen grew up on an acreage in Priddis (outside of Calgary), on Saltspring Island and Sidney on Vancouver Island. A daughter to a fibre artist and nature craving parents,Tara was immersed in a play based, natural environment from the start.
Tara started her post secondary education in psychology and later, early childhood education. After earning her early childhood education Diploma, she moved to Canmore and taught in both early childhood settings and in environmental education. After several years in the mountains, Tara returned to University in Edmonton to complete her Bachelor of Education degree. Since then, she has taught grades one through four. Her teaching years have led her to in-depth study in literacy education and working holistically with children who have special needs.
Tara’s connection to Waldorf began partly through her Dutch in-laws, who have been very involved in Steiner education in Holland, where they have worked and taught at Camphill Communities and attended Waldorf School. When Tara and her husband started their family, they took their twins to the Calgary Waldorf School for a Parent and Tot class. Later, the twins attended the Waldorf School while Tara became the Literacy Teacher at the school. When her husband was transferred to Edmonton, she had the wonderful opportunity to join the Waldorf Independent School of Edmonton as the Rosebud’s Parent-Tot teacher.
Tara’s passion for Waldorf has led her to take a handful of Waldorf teacher training classes and she is currently immersed in her Foundation Waldorf Training, from the Rudolf Steiner Centre in Toronto. Tara is a fibre artist herself now, a story teller, a mother, an environmentalist, and a teacher who is deeply passionate about education which honours the spirit of the child.
