Welcome to the growing WISE community. This flourishing school depends on its committed parent volunteers. Please sign up for a volunteer task, and help enrich the school while strengthening our community, learning a new skill and meeting other parents.
There is no minimum number of volunteer hours, however there is much work to be done. Many jobs can be done at home, in your own time.
Please let us know any other ways you can help, but these are a few areas where our school could use your assistance:
Festivals and Fairs – Something for everyone! Whether you want to tend a fire, hand out cookies, write thank you cards or make small gift items in advance, many volunteers are needed at these events to keep everything running smoothly, and in advance to help plan. It takes more than 50 people just for the Winter Fair!
Pumpkin Walk – Several actors and volunteers are needed to help set up, dole out apple cider and tear down when it’s over.
Carpentry – Work on your own, or be a part of one of our carpentry “build days”. In these meetings, experience is an asset but not necessary.
Handwork – Do you sew, knit or felt? Our teachers would always welcome new toys for the classes. The weekly Thursday night handwork circle is a great place to meet other parents and work on projects.
Classroom – Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis to help with knitting and other regular classroom activities. Parents are also welcome to help at lunch and during outside supervision.
Outside Area – In the spring, we will be further developing our playground/garden area. Help us build raised beds where our classes can garden. Outside work/maintenance is needed and appreciated.
School cleaning – Some of the cleaning of our school is done by volunteers. We need volunteers to stay an extra few minutes before or after school to sweep a classroom, restock the bathroom, clean toys etc.
WISE Parent Association – Would you like to be involved with running our school, and helping to grow Waldorf Education in Edmonton? Please volunteer as a parent representative for your class on the Parent Association, or sit on the WESE board.
